LONDON -- A puppy is at home recovering after eating a rather strange and definitely inedible object that required surgical intervention.

The pup's human parents realised something was amiss when they discovered a half-eaten windmill ornament from their garden inside the 4-month-old labrador's kennel.

Surgeon Ben Garland safely removed the 45cm (1.5ft) pole from the dog's stomach during a 45-minute operation. Framlingham Vets posted the X-ray to their Twitter account:

Fortunately, no damage was done to the dog's internal organs, and the BBC reports Garland to have said, "He didn't seem in any pain when he was brought in."

"Just a bit dribbly, and he looked a little embarrassed."

Don't sweat it, pup. We've all eaten something that's embarrassed us later, too.
