Thursday is National "Drink Wine" Day and if you needed more invitation than that, you should probably check your pulse.

Here are a few apps (free and available on both iOS and Android) that make imbibing more fun than you thought possible the first time you busted open that jug of wine under the bleachers in high school.

1. Minibar Delivery

Minibar Delivery delivers all your favorite booze within an hour, if you live in any of the 21 U.S. cities where it operates. From champagne to chardonnay and everything in between, Minibar delivers your order from a local liquor store as long as you buy at least $25 worth of items. If you live in selected cities, you can even book a bartender.

2. Vivino

Get an immediate education as you are standing in the wine aisle. Just photograph the bottle label and get reviews, rankings and prices. You can also search by wine name to answer your own questions in a restaurant instead of going off the sommelier's advice. You can even add your own rankings once you get skilled enough to detect those notes of woodsy tobacco in your merlot.

3. CellarTracker

Not only is there a review database of over 400,000 users profiling over 2 million wines, the app helps you catalog your own wine collection. With categories including tasting notes, valuations and food pairing tags, this is one that should be on every oenophile's phone.

4. Next Glass

This beer and wine app uses your previously rated drinks to determine your taste profile and what drink you might like next. No more picking wine based on attractive labels and hoping this chardonnay is less buttery than the last.

5. Riedel Wine Glass Guide

Just like one size does not fit all with pants, the same goes for wines and their glasses. This guide shows what wine glasses go with which wines. There is an extensive database of wine varietals and several choices of glassware for most wines. If you want to get the most bang for your buck, you should let the aromas develop properly. Though there is a direct link to buy Riedel stemware, this is also a useful app for those mismatched flutes from Great Aunt Sally that you never knew were perfect for Sauternes.
