Yoenis Cespedes stars in the funniest baseball lowlight since 'Who's on First?'

This is real-life Major League Baseball, not a comedy sketch inspired by Abbott and Costello's famous bit. 

Well, it's what passes for real life with Yoenis Cespedes, anyway. 

After stunting hard in the vehicle department multiple times in recent weeks, Cespedes' latest spring training trick came Thursday via a piece of unintentional comedy that allowed an inside-the-park home run.

The Mets star unilaterally decided to deem an outfield ball unplayable, then stood passively by as an opposing hitter rounded the bases in confusion. But that doesn't really do the moment justice. Let's dive into the glorious details. 

1. A.J. Reed of the Houston Astros hits a ball into the outfield and Cespedes runs after it toward the wall. This is normal.

2. Then Cespdes, standing right next to the ball, throws up his hands in the universal expression of, "Ah, f*ck it." The ball is right there!

3. Reed keeps rounding the bases while looking toward the outfield and wondering (along with everyone else), what the hell Cespedes is up to.

4. The ball is right there! It's just sitting there! It's not wedged or out of play or anything!

5. THE BALL IS RIGHT THERE!!!

6. Reed runs all the way to home plate, still visibly perplexed about what the hell Cespedes is up to.

7. An umpire heads out to the wall to see what the hell Cespedes is up to.

8. With a simple flick of the wrist, the ump pokes the ball out from under the hanging bit of wall-mat under which it rests. Easy as pie.
