Here's how you can know when Xbox Series X preorders go live

Gamers have been champing at the bit for any morsel of information we can get about next-gen consoles, and to be honest, both Microsoft and Sony have been keeping us pretty satiated with PS5 and Xbox Series X news throughout the summer. The thing is, the two most important pieces of information are still strangely unknown, even though both consoles are reportedly launching this holiday season: The exact release date (maybe?), and the price.

While we still have no idea when we'll get details on those things (hopefully soon), we do know how you can be in the loop when preorders go live. In this article, we'll be exclusively talking about how to get notified when Xbox Series X preorders go live, but for how to get PlayStation 5 preorder information, go here (it's a bit more complicated).

Getting on the list to be notified about Xbox Series X preorders is quite easy. Microsoft's official store doesn't have anything listed yet, but multiple retailers do (some with just placeholder pages for the time being). GameStop, Best Buy, and Target all have specific email signups ready to go — all you have to do is type your email into the box at the bottom, and you'll be a part of the initial email blast as soon as those preorders go live. Amazon and Walmart only have placeholder listings as of this writing on Sept. 2, but that may change soon.

No preorder info (or confirmation of its existence) has been publicized about the rumored Xbox Series S — which is reportedly a cheaper, less powerful version of the Series X — but we'll be sure to let you know as soon as that becomes a reality.

Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards last December, officially kicking off the company's foray into the next-gen future. In May, Microsoft held an online event that showed off an exciting slate of games coming to the new console (as well as another in July). Catch up on all of our past Xbox Series X coverage below, and stay tuned for more to come.
