How you dry your hair can make or break your style for the day. Letting it air dry means you’re dealing with your natural hair and, well, sometimes that is not the easiest monster to tame. Using a blow dryer may require extra effort, but it speeds up the drying process and can help deliver a more polished look.

When looking for the perfect tool to dry your hair, your top priority should be your hair’s health. A blow dryer that overheats and fries your hair is not worth the investment. And honestly, that’s what hair dryers are: an investment. When you buy one, you’re expecting to use it daily (or at least a few times a week, depending on your routine), so you want it to last.

You'll also want to consider the technology within the dryer and any attachments that are included. Ionic technology powers hair tools to dry faster and lock in shine. Additionally, higher wattage means a more powerful airflow. If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, you'll want a dryer with a diffuser so your natural texture can shine.

We've read through hundreds of reviews to come up with a list that includes hair dryers at a range of price points, each with differing features, helping you find the best option for your hair.

The Good & The Bad

  • Quiet and fast
  • Even weight distribution
  • Pricey

Why We Like It

The Dyson Supersonic, like all Dyson products, is known for its innovation.

We tested this product when it first debuted and we've got to say: it's impressive. The blower is bladeless, which makes for a smooth, quiet, and fast dry, and its motor sits in the handle rather than the head, distributing the weight evenly for a more comfortable hold.

This hair dryer measures air temperature 20 times per second and regulates the heat it produces, preventing extreme heat damage to help protect your hair’s natural shine. Set the dryer at three different speeds and four different heat levels, including constant cold. There’s also a cold shot option to set your style after it’s dry.

Three magnetic attachment styling tools are included with the Dyson Supersonic: A smoothing nozzle for simultaneous drying and styling, a concentrator to direct airflow, and a diffuser for natural drying.

The Good & The Bad

  • Cool shot
  • Fast drying
  • Pricey

Why We Like It

The ghd Air is a powerful hair dryer with a body shaped to give you a faster blow-dry. Its ionic technology is meant to lock in moisture for soft, shiny results that last without frizzing. The ergonomic design makes it easy to handle while the long cord gives you flexibility to move.

Two speeds and three heat settings give you the ability to control how you dry. The blow dryer also has a cool shot button to set your style and is quieter than basic dryers. This is a tool designed for professional salon use that can also easily be used at home.

This hair dryer also comes with two concentrator nozzles to aid in styling.  What makes the Air worth buying is that it has a cool shot button and is from a brand trusted by salons across the country.

The Good & The Bad

  • Digital heat controls
  • Ion technology
  • Pricey

Why We Like It

The T3 Featherweight, one of the more innovative hair dryers on this list, uses a specially-engineered fan that generates a high volume of ion-enriched air.

The enriched air exits the dryer in a wide cone shape at a gentle speed that dries large sections of hair quickly. Negative ions in the airflow cancel static and quickly seal the cuticle, which helps hair retain natural moisture, reduces frizz, and enhances shine.

Lightweight design and quiet operation create a more enjoyable drying experience. The Featherweight’s ergonomic slant handle is meant to alleviate wrist strain for more comfortable use.

The Good & The Bad

  • Quiet
  • Inexpensive
  • Some reviewers did not like how hard the air blows

Why We Like It

Don’t discredit the Remington Proluxe based on its relatively low price. The dryer has similar features to some of the more expensive models on this list and reportedly dries hair 50% faster than standard Remington hair dryers. It uses negative ion technology to dry your hair quickly while locking moisture into the cuticles.

Remington promises a frizz-free and silky finish when using this dryer made with ceramic infused with silk protein. A diffuser and concentrator are included for extra styling and the dryer has multiple settings, plus a cool shot button.

This dryer has a powerful blow and gets hot, however many reviewers found that it was quieter than other hair dryers they had used. It’s also fairly lightweight.

The Good & The Bad

  • Compact
  • Lightweight
  • Compatible worldwide
  • No cold shot
  • Not as powerful as full-sized dryers

Why We Like It

The BaByliss Nano packs a lot of power into a compact design.

Ideally designed for travelling, the Nano hair dryer is lightweight and compact enough to be taken in a carry-on bag. It is also multi-voltage, so it can be used anywhere.

With two heat settings, two speed settings and a heat concentrating nozzle, the Nano hair dryer gives you optimum results and styling control in minimum time.

Some reviewers do state that it's not as powerful as some other hair dryers, but when you're travelling and need something to get the job done, a small compromise might be necessary.

The Good & The Bad

  • Long-lasting
  • Powerful
  • No brush needed
  • Good value
  • Can get quite hot

Why We Like It

It doesn't matter what style you desire, because the Revlon Pro Collection hair dryer has the styling tools to help you achieve it.

Designed with performance, versatility, and comfort in mind, this high-endurance hair dryer has everything covered. It features ionic custom conditioning technology, using a built-in generator equipped with custom settings that release negative ions to help maintain a neutral charge on the hair's surface. The result? You hair looks conditioned and smooth.

The powerful turbo boost motor dries hair up to 31% faster than standard hair dryers, while the ultra-lightweight design and soft rubber grip ensures comfort and ease of use when styling.

MHU Pro

MHU Pro

Best For Versatlity

The Good & The Bad

  • Removable lint filter
  • Useful hanging loop
  • Variable temperature and heat settings
  • Cheaper options
  • Can overheat

Why We Like It

The MHU Pro is probably the most versatile hair dryer in this list, with variable temperature and heat settings, providing greater styling versatility for all hair types.

You also get the choice of three attachments with this device. The diffuser helps with a more natural and voluminous look, the concentrator is useful for straight hair, and the comb helps with knotting. Basically, you get a lot of options with the MHU Pro.

There's also a bunch of other bonus features, like a removable lint filter and hanging loop for convenient storage. There's a lot to like about this device, for a good price.

The Good & The Bad

  • Three air nozzles available
  • Nourishes hair
  • Cheap
  • Well reviewed
  • Quiet
  • Not the most powerful

Why We Like It

The Newdora Professional hair dryer releases hair care ions, to nourish and repair your hair deeply, with soft and shiny results.

This hair dryer is equipped with three heat and two speed settings, as well as a cool button. You can also adjust the temperature and airflow according to the nature of your hair. It's a really customisable option, that's similar to the Dyson Supersonic, just at a much lower price point.

The Newdora Professional comes with a fine nozzle for dry and smooth results, a styling tip for easy shaping, and a diffuser to make curls more vivid. This device is everything you want it to be.

It might not be the most powerful, but this just means that it's not going to make a lot of noise.
