It wasn’t until well into Tom Cruise’s career, with the first Mission: Impossible, that huge stunts became part of his repertoire. Our CineFix series, Art of the Scene, looks at the stunt that defined his transition to action star: the heist from CIA headquarters.

The white-room heist in Mission: Impossible was the culmination of studio deals, script rewrites, a lot of homages to movie history, and some exemplary work by stunt and editing crews.
