What better way to make an impression at an international barbershop convention than by working an ancient Máori war dance into your routine?

That's precisely what the team from New Zealand did at the 2016 Nashville International Convention. The competitors presented a synergy of top 40 hits and staple pop ballads together with the haka.

The haka was traditionally performed on the battlefield as a form of intimidation for opponents.  During peacetime, it is performed as a mark of respect and acknowledgment of New Zealand ancestry. Most famously, it is performed to impressive and terrifying effect before the New Zealand team competes in the Rugby World Cup

Although the New Zealand team came sixth in the competition, they may have provided some great new material for the next instalment of Pitch Perfect.
