This is a pretty chill side of nature.

A new video taken this week shows bioluminescent organisms making the waters off the coast of George Town, Tasmania glow as onlookers splash about.

The bright blue of the bioluminescence may look alien, but it has an earthly explanation.

Many organisms, like fireflies, actually create their own light for various reasons. The microorganisms causing the sea to glow in Tasmania might actually be using their light to hunt out food in the dark.
