2023 might just be the year of post-apocalyptic stories, from The Last of Us all the way to this summer's heavy dystopic line-up, and Bird Box Barcelona is ready to enter the mix.

An expansion of the 2018 hit. which starred Sandra Bullock, Bird Box Barcelona is set in the same universe plagued by mysterious creatures that brainwash as soon as you look at them. But unlike its predecessor, which is mainly set five years after the creatures' first appearance, Bird Box Barcelona seems like it's going to unravel the day they arrived on Earth.

We might finally start getting some answers about Bird Box's terrifying monsters, like was Barcelona the first place they invaded? And if so, where the hell did they come from?

Starring Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, and Diego Calva, Bird Box Barcelona promises to be a thrilling addition to the beloved film, and who knows, we might just be getting a new franchise.

Bird Box Barcelona premieres on Netflix July 14.
