President Donald Trump — and this is not a joke — legitimately floated the idea of injecting people with disinfectant to fight the coronavirus.
"I see the disinfectant where it knocks [the coronavirus] out in a minute, one minute," Trump said during the White House’s daily coronavirus briefing on Thursday. "And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it’d be interesting to check that."
As the president suggested that idea — as well as using a "very powerful light" — cameras caught the dazed reaction of coronavirus task force member Dr. Deborah Birx. Watch for yourself, but her eyes seem to shout, "What in the world is going on?"
