Blade Runner 2049 certainly looks cool, we know that much. But it's only now we're getting a clear idea of what it's actually about.

The latest international spot shines a light on Niander Wallace, the villain played by Jared Leto. As we learned at Comic-Con, he's the genius behind the recent resurgence of replicants. Indeed, it seems he might like replicants a little too much.

"Humanity cannot survive," Wallace says in the trailer. "Replicants are the future of the species. But I can only make so many."

He can, however, make enough for an army. And Ryan Gosling's Officer K might be the only one who can stop him – well, with some assistance from Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard.

Blade Runner 2049 is in theaters October 6.
