Rick Deckard comes out of hiding in first 'Blade Runner 2049' teaser

Way before HBO brought us Westworld's humanoid robots, there was Blade Runner, Ridley Scott's 1982 cult hit about a dystopic Los Angeles populated by replicants. Over 30 years have passed since Scott's film -- and also in its world, where things pick up in the trailer for Blade Runner 2049.

Sometime during those three decades, Rick Deckard (Ford) has disappeared. Ryan Gosling plays K, a new-school LAPD blade runner who seeks Rick's help with an emerging threat.

From Warner Bros. official synopsis:

“Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”

The trailer shows K finding Rick in hiding in what appears to be an abandoned city (or the Earth's surface has come to remarkably resemble that of Mars).

Directed by Dennis Villanueve, the film will still be produced by original director Scott, but depart further from Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Blade Runner 2049 releases Oct. 6 of next year.
