Dan Gruchy, of Slow Mo Guys YouTube fame, has apparently managed to wrack up 23 years of mirror-shattering bad luck (yes, we know its not a multiple of seven but he's spent some bad-luck years already). After the video above, though, he's back up to 30.

For their latest venture into the sweet world of slow motion, Gavin Free and Dan hurl a hammer through a mirror at 120,000 frames per second.

The way the glass slowly splinters and reflects the sunlight as the shards break apart is pretty cool, but the most interesting thing has to be the shockwave that rolls through the surface as the hammer first makes contact.

As Dan points out, "It's like that shot in The Matrix where the helicopter hits the building."
