James Corden's viral rap recap of 2020 ends on a message of hope

James Corden usually rounds off each year with a breathless rap recap of the most viral moments form the past 12 months — and despite 2020 being a long, long way from a typical year, the Late Late Show team still managed to dig out some moments of levity for Corden's Thursday night effort.

After running through memories of Elon Musk and Grimes' baby name and Donald Trump's now infamous "Four Seasons" press conference, though, the host turned serious to deliver a message of hope for 2021.

"Don't get me wrong, there's reason to hope," rapped Corden. "Five more states all legalized dope / The COVID vaccine is now within reach / A much better option than injecting with bleach / 2020 destroyed all of our plans, but we can get through it by washing our hands / Lending neighbors assistance and keeping social distance / To flatten the curve and get back to the task / Next year we'll be better just put on a mask / Merry Christmas to you and those you hold dear / Here's hoping we'll be together in person next year."
