This week Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos announced plans to build a "business park" in space, continuing his habit of spending exorbitantly on things that absolutely nobody needs.

"Listen, I get it, space is cool and Jeff Bezos is rich," said the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday. "But, you know, when they talk about spending tens of billions of dollars, you have to wonder which part of 'the Earth is on fire' Jeff Bezos isn't understanding. Is the plan to sit up there and watch it burn?"

As many of us know but choose to ignore, the planet we live on is currently in dire peril due to a little thing called climate change. Amazon employees are also struggling under infamously poor conditions, with the company's warehouse workers experiencing a rate of serious injury 80 percent higher than at competing warehouses.

One would hope Bezos would direct his billions to addressing these immediate problems. Alas.

"How about instead of spending tens of billions of dollars on a space station, spend zero dollars on a space station and all the dollars on planet Earth?" said Kimmel.
