Jimmy Kimmel thinks Pelosi didn't go far enough with Trump's speech

"Trump got away scot-free after extorting another country with our taxpayer money to help himself win an election," said Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday. "But Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, is on the hot seat today because she ripped up some paper last night."

Pelosi has gained a lot of attention for tearing up a copy of Trump's speech at the State of the Union, with Republicans reacting as though she shredded the Declaration of Independence and used the strips to wipe her ass. There's no doubt it was a pointed moment, but the Republican indignation has been comically outsized. Fox News host Melissa Francis even claimed Pelosi was essentially tearing up African-Americans.

"Really?" laughed Kimmel. "Right, she's no better than the bad guys from Get Out."

Considering how dedicated Republicans have been to defending Trump's far more objectionable shenanigans, the furious reaction to Pelosi seems farcical. Still, Kimmel at least agreed that she shouldn't have torn the speech up. "She should have rolled it up and spanked him with it."
