A new Jordan Peeled-backed PSA uses former president Barack Obama and AI to warn against the proliferation of fake news.

In the video, Obama appears to say a handful of questionable things in the name of fake news, like, "Killmonger was right!" (debatable) and "President Trump is a total and complete dipshit" (less debatable).

The video eventually reveals the voice of Obama to be that of comedian and Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele, refreshing his spot-on Obama impersonation. So why is Jordan Peele participating in such duplicity?

It's a new effort with brother-in-law and Buzzfeed CEO Jonah Peretti to warn readers about falling for fake news and videos like this one that exploit technological advances, in the same vein as "deep fake" videos that have caused uproars in other corners of the internet. Jared Sosa, a Buzzfeed producer, performed the technological wizardry necessary for the video while Peele wrote and did the voice.

Whether the video is actually successful in getting the word out or just gets shared as real by anti-Obama internet users remains to be seen but in 2018, anything, really, is possible so you'd better pray all the same.
