There are many ways to ruin a vacation, but the apocalypse interfering with your relaxing getaway has to take the cake. At least, that's what it seems like based on the latest trailer for Leave the World Behind.

Director Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot) adapts Rumaan Alam's novel of the same name, which sees couple Amanda (Julia Roberts) and Clay (Ethan Hawke) renting a beautiful home in the Hamptons for a family vacation. Things take a turn for the strange when two strangers claiming to be the owners of the house show up out of the blue. They are G.H. (Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha'la), and they bring unsettling news of cyberattacks from beyond Amanda and Clay's cozy vacation bubble.

As bizarre occurrences — including unusal animal migration patterns and unexplainable noises — begin to pile up, Amanda, Clay, G.H., and Ruth must figure out two things: Can they trust each other? And how can they survive in a potentially collapsing world?

Leave the World Behind is in select theaters Nov. 22 and on Netflix Dec. 8.
