In the aftermath of Prince's death, the artist's influence is undeniable – not only in his music and fans, but to his peers in the musical community. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Leslie Odom, Jr. of Broadway's Hamilton recalled Prince's eminent presence at Hamilton in March.

"It's humbling," said Odom of Prince's praise of the show. "We don't take it for granted at all."

Prince came to see Hamilton the night after inviting the cast to his own private concert in Harlem, where he played from 2 to 3:30 a.m.

"He sat right in the box with his shades on the whole time, but it meant the world to us," Odom said. "Prince didn't come backstage – he wasn't big on stuff like that – but then we were all waiting to see 'Did he like it? Did he care about it?' and he sent that tweet. We'll never forget stuff like that."
