"Ayy, Panini, don't you be a meanie."

Lil Nas X absolutely slayed the red carpet at the 2019 VMAs with a sequin and lace ruffle ensemble.

But amid all the glitz and matching silver cowboy boots, Nas is a goofy dreamboat, as demonstrated in Vogue's behind-the-scenes video showing him getting ready before the VMAs.

In the video, he starts out talking to the sandwich he's eating. And yep, you guessed it, he is indeed reciting lyrics from his song "Panini."

"Ayy, Panini, don't you be a meanie," he tells his sandwich.

Fashion designer Christian Cowan explains that Nas' VMAs "diamond fantasy" outfit was an "homage to Prince." You also get a charming glimpse of Nas goofing around as he rehearses choreography.

Never change, Nas.
