Playing Mister Rogers feels like playing a superhero to Tom Hanks.

The Academy Award-winning star of A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood talked to Jimmy Kimmel about the power of putting on that iconic red sweater to play the beloved PBS children’s show star.

"You put on that red sweater and those blue shoes, you might as well be putting on Batman's cape and cowl. You feel powerful."

Hanks talked about how he got into character (much swimming), and unpacked the fact that the crew filmed in Pittsburgh at WQED, where Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was filmed back in the day. The reactions of the crew working there were apparently quite great when Hanks walked in in full costume.
