Remember the raindrop cake? In 2016, a banner year for viral foods, the popular Japanese dessert enjoyed a moment of fame in the States, but hasn't been in the news much since then. Luckily, Molly Baz is here to remedy that problem: She gives the notoriously complicated treat a try in a new Bon Appétit video.

Baz really does her homework here, speaking with a food scientist as well as Darren Wong, the man who popularized the raindrop cake in the U.S. She ends up with a "visually stunning" PB&J-flavored creation all her own, which seems to taste about as delicious as a raindrop cake can taste.

That's the thing about gorgeous viral foods — sometimes they're not really that good.
