Motherhood unleashes a new side of Amy Adams in the first trailer for Nightbitch.

Based on the novel by Rachel Yoder, and directed by Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Nightbitch stars Adams as an artist who's put her career on pause to be a stay-at-home mom. Stifled by child-rearing chaos and her husband's (Scoot McNairy) unsupportive platitudes, she finds a surprising new outlet for all her frustration: turning into a dog.

That's right. Adams goes full dog mode in Nightbitch's first trailer, chowing down on dog food, bounding around on all fours, and digging the absolute daylights out of her lawn. That feral attitude seems to follow her into her human interactions too, where she shoves burgers in her face before telling people, "I could crush a walnut with my vagina." Seriously, the trailer is worth a watch for that line delivery alone.

Nightbitch hits theaters Dec. 6.
