Meet Rami Malek's formidable Bond villain Safin in 'No Time to Die' clip

"We both eradicate people to make the world a better place. I just want to be a little tidier."

Rami Malek's character Safin, a genocidal new villain set to take on James Bond in the upcoming film No Time to Die, sounds rather Thanos-like to us.

We've seen trailers and heard bits and pieces about the characters coming joining the 25th Bond film set for release in November, including those played by Lashana Lynch and Ana De Armas, but what of Malek's villain? In a new clip, there's (slightly) more detail as to the new nemesis of Daniel Craig's 007.

Safin appears to be connected to psychologist Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux), who appeared in the previous film Spectre as Bond's love interest. If you've forgotten, she's the daughter of Mr. White, a member of evil organisation SPECTRE, run by 007's longtime nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Swann seems to know that Safin's out for some kind of revenge in this new clip, and Safin knows exactly who she cares about (hello, bargaining chip). But it's all this talk of "eradicating people" that seems to lie at the core of what Safin's villainous goal will be in the film.

"What I really wanted from Safin was to make him unsettling, thinking of himself as being heroic," says Malek in the clip. "Safin is a formidable adversary. James Bond has to adapt to that."

"What he wants and what he's willing to do makes him a very frightening character both personally to Bond but also on a global level," adds director Cary Joji Fukunaga.

No Time to Die hits theaters Nov. 12 in the UK, and Nov. 20 in the U.S.
