Blizzard sees you: 'Overwatch' loot boxes will drop less duplicates

In a new developer update posted today, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan announced that the game's loot boxes will have a much lower chance of dropping duplicate items in the future.

"One of the things that we're going to do is drastically reduce the rate of duplicates that you'll get out of any loot box," Kaplan said while wearing a D.va jersey. "We think this will be immediately evident and extremely significant for all of our players and we think it's going to feel fantastic."

This will hopefully solve the super annoying problem of opening loot boxes during events, getting excited when you see a legendary-level item in there, and then being incredibly disappointed when it turns out you already have that skin.

If you're worried that this means you'll be getting less credits from duplicates to spend on new cosmetics of your choosing, Kaplan has you covered.

"To compensate this, we're going to increase the amount of credits that you get out of loot boxes, so we'll make sure that your credit intake will be at least the same if not more when all of this is done."
