Pete Buttigieg beautifully flips the script on Fox News' question about Kamala Harris

Pete Buttigieg definitely knew what he was in for on Wednesday when he appeared on Fox News — criticism of Democrats, attacks on VP nominee Kamala Harris, right-wing talking points — but he was not fazed. Not one bit.

The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and onetime presidential candidate refused to let Fox hosts Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier dictate the terms of the conversation. MacCallum attempted to press Buttigieg (around the 3:00 mark above) on past heath care policy differences between Senator Harris and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

"There's a classic parlor game of trying to find a little bit of daylight between running mates," Buttigieg responded. "If people want to play that game, we can look into why an evangelical Christian like Mike Pence wants to be on a ticket with a president caught with a porn star, [or] how he feels about an immigration policy he called unconstitutional before he decided to team-up with Donald Trump. If folks want to play that game, we can do it all night."

After that quite effective dig at Pence, Buttigieg said most Americans actually care about being better protected from the deadly pandemic. What followed was a pretty solid pause in conversation before Baier decided to refocus the conversation elsewhere.

Buttigieg wasn't done turning things around on Fox News hosts, though. On Thursday, he appeared on Fox and Friends — a morning show beloved by Trump — and wondered why Trump was so scared to show-up to a virtual debate.
