First impressions are important, and the inescapable first impression left by the PlayStation 5 is: Wow that thing is big.

Sony released a teardown video for its upcoming console, and it amounts to a guided tour through the hardware's innards. You'll never see most of this stuff in the course of casual use, but it's nifty to peer into the guts of such a complex machine regardless.

The video also isn't devoid of actually helpful information. It opens with a rundown of how you switch from vertical to horizontal use, a process that involves removing a screw from the base and then clipping the base to the side of the console so it stays level when sitting flat. (The base's screw gets smartly stored inside a hidden compartment in the base itself.)

There's also a look at the slot you'll need to access if you want to install another hard drive. It's not difficult to reach, but you will have to unclip and remove the white housing around the console's body. That's also how you get to the dust catchers – literally, small holes that help to funnel out the dust when you hold a vacuum up to your PS5.

Sony is set to launch the PlayStation 5 on Nov. 12, though prepare for a bit of a wait if you're not able to snag a pre-order ahead of its release.
