Debbie Reynolds' Hollywood legacy is incontrovertible, and it already lives on in La La Land. In an acceptance speech for the Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival this past weekend, Ryan Gosling thanked the late Reynolds for her illustrious career.

“I wish I could have said this in person but I’d like to thank Debbie Reynolds for her wonderful career of work,” he said. “Her work is an inspiration.”

With its building momentum and old-Hollywood blend of movie and music, La La Land is inextricably linked to Reynolds and to one of her most famous works.

"We watched Singing in the Rain every day for inspiration," Gosling went on, describing Reynolds as "a truly unparalleled talent."
