Why *don't* they make forks out of candy?

One of the very best things about Brooklynn Prince, the young star of Sean Baker's The Florida Project, is that she's not your typical precocious movie kid.

Her character, Moonee, isn't some old soul who's wise beyond her years. She doesn't impress the adults around her with her maturity. She just comes across like a normal child – which makes her extra relatable, even to adults like us.

I mean, who among us hasn't wished for a fork made of candy, or a bigger stomach to fill with more food? And don't even pretend you're above the allure of a hotel breakfast buffet.

The Florida Project is the kind of movie that wouldn't work if even a single note rang false. Thankfully, Prince grounds the whole thing with a raw naturalism that most grown-up Oscar winners could envy.

But don't just take my word for it. For more of Prince's charm, check out The Florida Project in theaters now.
