Animator Yoshiyuki Momose has worked on Studio Ghibli classics like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. His next film, Studio Ponoc's The Imaginary, looks just as stunning.

The film's trailer introduces us to young Amanda (voiced by Evie Kiszel) and her imaginary friend Rudger (voiced by Louie Rudge-Buchanan), who get up to all sorts of adventures together. But when they're separated, Rudger finds himself in the Town of Imaginaries, where forgotten Imaginaries end up — and where a mysterious threat could destroy everything.

Populated by a colorful cast of Imaginaries — including a pink hippo and a wise old cat — The Imaginary promises to be a sweet ode to the power of imagination.

The Imaginary is streaming July 5 on Netflix.
