Bryan Cranston targets a drug kingpin in super-meta trailer for 'The Infiltrator'

Talk about meta: Bryan Cranston, best known for playing Walter White a.k.a. meth lord Heisenberg on Breaking Bad, does a full 180 in his latest film role. In The Infiltrator, directed by Brad Furman, Cranston plays Robert Mazur, a federal agent tasked with exposing the drug empire of Pablo Escobar in the 1980s.

"I lie my ass off," Mazur says in the trailer, and it takes a moment to remember that it's not Walter White declaring that to Jesse Pinkman in a laboratory. After the initial shock, you get used to Cranston as one of the good guys, even if The Infiltrator promises that plenty will go wrong in Mazur's mission.

The film also stars John Leguizamo, Diane Kruger and Benjamin Bratt as Escobar's main distributor, Roberto Alcaino.

The Infiltrator premieres July 13.
