You can't log onto the internet these days without stumbling across yet another movie trailer that prominently features a creepy, slowed-down cover of a pop song. But boy, when it works, it works.

In the first trailer for The Killing of a Sacred Deer, a young girl sings Ellie Goulding's "Burn" to a friend. It starts out sounding sweet enough, but quickly takes on a more ominous tone as strange events start to unfold.

But if you've seen director Yorgos Lanthimos' Dogtooth or The Lobster, you were probably expecting the bizarre already.

The trailer doesn't give away a whole lot about the plot, just enough to let us know that some messed-up shit is about to go down. Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman should probably watch their backs.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer is in theaters October 27.
