It was around 10 years ago that Tom Hiddleston was cast as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The thing is, though, that wasn't actually the part he was going for.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor explained that he originally went for the role of Thor, which of course, would eventually go to Chris Hemsworth.
"Basically, at the time, they were looking for sort of less well-established actors so that the audience didn't have an association," Hiddleston says in the clip above. "They just wanted people to see these new characters, these new actors.
"The remit was, if you're over six foot and you've got blonde hair, you can come and have a pop at it. I never auditioned for Loki, I only ever auditioned for Thor."
Cue Jimmy Fallon surprising Hiddleston with his old audition tape, which has never before seen the light of day.
Hiddleston's response, after watching it back?
"I think we can all agree that they cast the right actor."
