A new trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's psychological thriller Trap is here, showing Josh Hartnett getting rather resourceful in his efforts to slip the police's net — as well as blatantly violating deep fryer safety protocols.

Trap follows Cooper (Hartnett), a father experiencing the paternal rite of passage that is attending a pop concert with his teenage daughter (Ariel Donoghue). However, he soon discovers that her safety isn't the only matter he should be concerned about. Unbeknownst to the attendees, the concert is actually a trap to catch a serial killer who authorities believe will be in the crowd.

Hundreds of police patrolling the venue may not faze most concertgoers, but it's a major concern if you happen to be the criminal they're looking for.

Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Trap also features Shyamalan's own daughter Saleka as pop singer Lady Raven.

Trap arrives in theatres Aug. 2.
