Brad Pitt is back on the battlefield, but this time he's not killing Nazis. In the first trailer for Netflix's War Machine, Pitt plays Glenn McMahon, a general during the war in Afghanistan based loosely on General Stanley McChrystal.

Netflix describes the "part reality, part savage parody" film as "an exploration of a born leader’s ultra-confident march right into the dark heart of folly." It's directed by Animal Kingdom's David Michôd and costars Tilda Swinton, Sir Ben Kingsley, Anthony Michael Hall, Topher Grace and more.

War Machine also draws from The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America's War in Afghanistan, a firsthand account of journalist Michael Hastings' travel and contact with McChrystal during the war.

War Machine starts streaming May 26.
