Finally, we've reached social media's high-water mark: George W. Bush used Instagram to proclaim that Bill Clinton is his "brother from another mother."

Here's how it went down. Former President Bush has a new book about his father, George Bush Sr., that's called, appropriately, 41.

It's making the rounds.

When Clinton got a copy of the book, he promptly tweeted out a photo of the former president reading the hardcover: "Received my copy of #41 by #43, George W. Bush. Touching tribute!" he wrote, including the hashtags #HowAreYouSTILLNotOnTwitter and #PresidentialTweeters.

Check it out:

That's a slight diss there: The younger Bush has yet to embrace the 140-character platform. He does, however, use Instagram.

George W. Bush took to the photo-sharing app to thank Clinton, posting a screen-grab of 42's tweet (still with us?) and the caption: "Thanks, 42! Hope you like the book about your pal, #41."

He one-upped Clinton, however, with the addition of that very important hashtag: "#BrotherFromAnotherMother."

(Mashable was unable to independently confirm if it was George W. Bush who actually wrote the caption or posted the Instagram photo, or if it was a minion. We'll update this post if we ever find out.)
