'Black Panther' made Oscars history and all the stars are thrilled
It's official: Black Panther is a Best Picture nominee.
Sure, Marvel's first movie of 2018 was the top-earning release in the U.S. for the year, but there was every reason to expect a snub. This is the first Best Picture nod for a superhero flick in Academy history, after all.
The people responsible for shepherding Black Panther into existence are understandably excited. The proof is right there, splattered across the internet.
(Also, just so we're all clear: It's seven nominations in total for Black Panther. Best Picture is the big one, but there's also Best Adapted Screenplay, Achievement in Production Design, Best Original Song, Achievement in Costume Design, Best Original Score, Achievement in Sound Editing, and Achievement in Sound Mixing.)
