Compare the remastered 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' to the original

Take a look at how 'Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare' changes in its 2016 remastering.

We learned on Monday -- as rumors had already suggested -- that Activision is releasing a remastered Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare alongside Infinite Warfare in November. And from the little we got to see, developer Raven Software's work on updating the 2007 game is a significant step forward, visually.

A handful of clips that compared locations from the original game to their remastered counterparts were shown off during Activision's reveal stream. We've captured them in a set of GIFs below.

As you can see, this is more than just a new paint job on an old game. There's more intricate detail in the textures, giving all surfaces less of a uniform look. The addition of new props and improved lighting also seem to create a better sense of place.
