This is truly worth stopping traffic for.

A traffic police officer in the Chinese city of Putian ran into the middle of a busy street to rescue a kitten, and the footage is going viral.

The video shows several motorbikes stopping at a crossing while a small white kitten slowly walks in front of them.

The officer, who has been named as Yuhe Tan, then notices and rushes over, scooping the little animal up in one arm, before quickly leaving the scene.

Tan later told news outlet the Global Times that a driver had yelled at him, saying there was a cat.

"I immediately rushed over," he said.

Many took to social media to praise the officer's actions.

"This traffic police officer is so great, we need more people like this in the world," said a user on Chinese social media website Weibo.

"I bet this officer has a cat himself at home," one added.
