The Hamilton Mixtape is set to be released this year, featuring remixes and covers of the production's soundtrack.

"People are coming out of the woodwork, knocking on the door," Miranda said of the musical's many famous fans. "Half the songs are cover versions of songs in the show, and the others are interpolations — we'll take some of this, some of that, and make something new out of it."

Miranda clarified that there's one person who's most definitely not appearing on the mixtape: himself. He not only created the music, lyrics and book for the production, but also plays Alexander Hamilton.

"I'm not going to be on it because for me the goal is to keep this inspired by the original," he explained.

Hamilton was originally called The Hamilton Mixtape before it became the world phenomenon that is Hamilton the musical.
