Donald Trump Jr. has a grave warning for our country's democracy: watch out for dankness.

The president's oldest son attacked the press on Thursday, venting about the coverage of the Nunes Memo, a Republican-written document alleging that the FBI abused its surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016. The White House has been pushing for its release, but the FBI vehemently objected because of the memo's possible factual inaccuracies.

NBC's Andrea Mitchell tweeted, "How will they [the White House] justify releasing this memo?"

Trump Jr. replied back criticized the media, saying, "Apparently the press only likes their information 'leaked' from unverified sources rather than released openly from congress."

Then he referenced the Washington Post's motto. Kind of.

"I think it will be tough for them to sell their 'democracy dies in dankness' byline with this kind of logic," he tweeted.

Which got some great responses.

Someone even wrote a poem about it, complete with weed-induced discourse about Plato and Roanoke.

Trump Jr. could have been citing the Washington Post's official Reddit account, whose tongue in cheek motto is "Democracy Dies in Dankness."

Gene Park, who runs the Washington Post's Reddit account, was pretty disappointed that his motto's credit is going to someone else.

This could be an opportunity for the Washington Post to rebrand again.

Trump Jr.'s dank tweet is still up at the time of writing.
