TL;DR: Dyson released its first all-in-one wet and dry cordless vacuum on Sept. 12. The Dyson V15s Detect Submarine is now officially available for purchase for $949.99.

The Swiffer Wet Jet in your closet is shaking.

The second official release to market from Dyson's 2023 product drop (announced in June) taps a totally new product category for Dyson: cordless vacuums that also mop. The Dyson V15s Detect Submarine combines some of Dyson's most powerful suction with a new dual tank wet roller head to create the company's first all-in-one wet and dry cordless vacuum, available for purchase as of Sept. 12 for $949.

Let's dissect that mouthful of a title.

"Submarine" refers to a blue wet roller head attachment clicked onto the body of the Dyson V15. Compared to dry Dyson cleaning heads, the Submarine is wider and flatter to house two tanks — a 300 mL tank for clean water and a 360 mL tank for dirty water — and eight water jets placed along the entire length of the roller.

The pressurized chamber creates 18 mL spurts of water every minute (the sweet spot for hydration without puddling, apparently) for the motor-driven microfiber brush to scrub stains and spills with. A full clean tank can cover up to 1,184 square feet of flooring.

The Submarine cleaning head hasn't yet been cleared to work with other existing Dyson vacuums, but we hope to see its availability as an add-on purchase before the holidays.

As a dry cordless vacuum, this is still one of Dyson's most powerful

The other half of the V15s Detect Submarine is the "V15s Detect" part. It's not the novel aspect of this mashup, but it's a beast that shouldn't be overlooked.

Clocking 240 Air Watts of suction power, the V15 is still casually one of Dyson's most powerful cordless vacuums — trailing closely behind the 250 Air Watts produced by the $1,049.99 Gen5outsize (the first leg of Dyson's 2023 drops, which came out in June). Debris grabbed from hard floors and carpet will be sent through HEPA filtration into the 0.2 gallon dust bin.

And yes, "Detect" means that the cleaning head with a laser is included. The green glow shooting out of the cleaning head illuminates dust in its path that you wouldn't know was there otherwise — a sickening game changer that'll be an even more powerful tool when pointing out spots that need attention from the mop. The effectiveness is proven in the V15's LCD screen stats, which track the size and quantity of particles you've sucked up.

In total, the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine ships with three cleaning heads (the Submarine, Fluffy Optic laser head, and de-tangling Digital Motorbar) plus a drip tray and attachments like the motorized hair screw tool, combination tool, and crevice tool. These can be added to the end of the yellow extender or to the body itself to transform into a handheld.
