Give this woman an Oscar: Amy Adams is the new Leo
The Internet -- nay, the collective entertainment and media consciousness -- has spent decades pining like Gatsby for Leonardo DiCaprio to win an Oscar. That glorious day finally arrived, and now we must attend to the giant actor-who-needs-an-Oscar-shaped holes in our hearts.
Who will be the next Leo? Who has already embarked upon the turbulent (but ultimately satisfying) road to victory?

The answer is simple and elegant: Amy Adams.
Adams has been chugging along on the Oscar train since 2006, when she was first nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Junebug. Adams was up for the same award again in 2009, 2011, and 2013, until 2014's American Hustle finally gave her a shot at Actress in a Leading Role.
In 2014, Adams won a Golden Globe for American Hustle and in the following year for Big Eyes, which didn't make it to the Oscars. None of those densely packed Academy Award nominations led to a statue, despite Adams' consistent work on unequivocally Oscar-bait projects.
2006 - Academy Award nominee, Junebug
2008 - Golden Globe nominee, Enchanted
2009 - Academy Award nominee, Doubt
2011 - Academy Award nominee, The Fighter
2013 - Academy Award nominee, The Master
2014 - Academy Award nominee, American Hustle
2015 - Golden Globe winner, Big Eyes
Adams was absent from theaters and awards shows for the 2015 period, busy preparing for 2016 releases like Nocturnal Animals and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. That franchise may stand between Amy and Oscar, with 2017's The Justice League Part One already in pre-production.
Focus, Amy! If Leo can do it, so can you. Eyes on the prize, girl -- you've got work to do.
