Welcome to the neighborhood, gnomes!

When we retire, we're faced with the daunting task of productively occupying time that we're not used to having. Steve Hoke of Newport, Pennsylvania, decided to spend his time building gnome homes. That's right. Gnome homes.

The former prison counselor, inspired by the film The Gnomist and his grandchildren, created mini gnome domiciles, which beginning in December, enjoyed a several month residence at Little Buffalo State Park in Perry County.

Unfortunately however, according to PennLive, the poor little gnomes faced eviction from said park in February because they "'were not the right fit' for a park focused on wildlife and conservation." This led Hoke's project into an uncertain limbo.

While many protested the gnome's eviction from Little Buffalo, tiny tree vacancies soon emerged in new, gnome-friendly neighborhoods: Millerstown Community Park and Noye Park in Duncannon.

The gnomes can now continue to live in happy harmony among the trees, just as nature intended. As long as their gnome rent is stabilized.
