If a band plays a music festival in the summer of 2016 and doesn't cover Prince, do they make a sound?

Even though Governors Ball music festival in New York City was cut a day short due to rain that, unfortunately, did not have a violet hue, there was no shortage of Prince -- and the Clash -- tributes.

Beck, Mac Miller, Haim and Against Me! among others all put their spin on classics. The Killers' Interpol cover was a crowd-pleaser, too, with millennials welcoming a wave of nostalgia from when they were young.

Haim "I Would Die 4 U" by Prince

Prince covers should always be this exuberant, and Haim, appropriately, seemed like they were having the time of their lives. Este Haim takes lead vocals on this "I Would Die 4 U" cover, complete with a dance routine.

Bloc Party - "I Would Die 4 U" by Prince

Bloc Party also covered "I Would Die 4 U," a song the band initially performed almost a decade ago.

Beck - "Raspberry Beret" by Prince

Beck covered a different Prince song and confirmed to the crowd that receiving an Album of the Year Grammy from the legendary singer was pretty cool.

Mac Miller - "Purple Rain" by Prince

Mac Miller embraced the stormy weather by leading the crowd in a singalong of "Purple Rain," complete with purple lights for the full effect as it started drizzling.

The Killers - "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" by Elvis

Brandon Flowers also made every man, woman and child swoon with a stripped-down cover of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love With You."

The Killers - "Obstacle One" by Interpol

The Killers also mixed things up a little with a modern classic, with Flowers citing Interpol as an inspiration when the band was starting out.

The Strokes - "Clampdown" by the Clash

The Strokes don't really need help reminding anyone that they're rockstars, but covering the Clash doesn't hurt.

Against Me! - "Train in Vain" by the Clash

Against Me! also covered the Clash at the tail end of their ferocious set.
