Kanye West is basically using Frank Ocean as his excuse to skip the Grammys

Kanye West's tumultuous relationship with the Grammys just got a little shakier when the rapper threatened to boycott next year's show if they don't nominate Frank Ocean for an award -- even though he's not actually eligible for nomination.

While performing in Oakland, California, on Saturday night, West stopped mid-performance to heap praise on Frank Ocean and his two albums -- the "visual album" Endless and his proper release Blonde -- and threaten the Grammys.

"I'll tell you this right now: If his album's not nominated in no categories, I'm not showing up to the Grammys," he said. "As artists, we gotta come together to fight the bullshit they been throwing us with."

Here's the problem: Last week, Billboard reported that Ocean's reps didn't submit either release for consideration for tan award. It was something of a shock as his previous effort, 2012's Channel Orange, won two Grammys and was nominated for three others.

Kanye's thoughts shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has followed the artist. In February, during one of his signature tweet-storms, West slammed the Grammy's as "out of touch" and offered his assistance to make the awards show "relevant" again.

In other words, don't expect Kanye at next year's Grammys. Or maybe he will attend because that would also be a very Kanye thing to do.
