The White House's official photographer captured the historical moment when President Obama saw Cuba for the very first time.
In an image posted on Pete Souza's Instagram account on Monday, the president can be seen on his knees staring out the window as Air Force One prepared to land in Havana, Cuba late Sunday afternoon.

That image, which shows the plane soaring over decade-old cars, presents a stark contrast of the two countries.

The visit marks the first of a sitting U.S. president in 88 years, since Calvin Coolidge visited the island in 1928. It marks the first for Air Force One — Coolidge arrived by battleship.
