Scotland's tourism board, Visit Scotland, is hiring an "ambassadog" — as in a canine ambassador — to "represent the spirit of Scotland around the world."

The criteria are strict: Potential ambassadogs should have a breadth of knowledge of the "smells and sights around the country," an outgoing personality and a passion for the best walks around Scotland.

Responsibilities include posting about adventures in Scotland on social media and being involved in Scotland's tourism campaigns, which could potentially include interviews and TV appearances.

The position is not paid, but the chosen dog (as well as its owner) will receive a three-night holiday. The nationwide search is open to all dogs from all regions of Scotland; they must be current residents. Sorry, dogs everywhere else in the world.

Competition is bound to be fierce, so interested dogs should start learning some new tricks, beefing up their résumé, asking dog park pals for references and adding strangers to their professional network on LinkedIn.

The deadline for applications is April 6. Six finalists for the position will be interviewed in Edinburgh by early May.
