So much wisdom, so little context.

Voice of an angel, face of a kawaii baby deer: Selena Gomez isn't just a hyper-talented 24-year-old and the rightful owner of the most-liked Instagram account. She's also Vogue Australia's new cover girl. As such, she's given a tell-all interview that TBH doesn't tell us that much.

What it lacks in actual information, it more than makes up for in vague allusions, especially of the romantic kind, as Vogue itself has attempted to draw out.

Upon being probed about Justin Bieber her relationships, the singer-slash-actress effectively said she doesn't get taken seriously as a musician because of her association with the prolific Instagram user and occasional singer. Burn!

But in her infinite, if indeterminate, wisdom, Selena clearly knows a thing or two about dating publicly (as well as talking in riddles.) What can us mere plebeians learn from her about dating, albeit un-publicly? Let us count the ways.

Vague quote: "You want to do what you love but stuff overshadows it so it makes it a little harder for people to take me seriously." Lesson: Don't let your Bieber boyfriend steal your thunder.

You might be tempted to make everything about your partner. But don't! What about your career? What about your Netflix "recommended for you" list? Learn from Selena and don't allow your relationship to overpower your life. You'll regret it -- just like she's regretting it in this GIF.

Vague quote: "Nobody really knows everything and they can only assume." Lesson: Ignore the haters.

We can only assume this is a reference to the dangers of speculative gossip. Avoid it. Those rumour mongers don't even know you, girl.

Vague quote: "I figured it's just temporary. I feel like that fortunately and unfortunately it's where my life is at the moment and I have to accept it." Lesson: Stay zen amid the drama.

The context here might be a little blurry, but we're pretty sure she's talking about the focus on her relationships. People may not appreciate you as much as your popular boyfriend, but the tide will turn. Mark Selena's words. It will turn.

Vague quote: "The guys that do have the confidence to hit on me are not necessarily my type, but they think they are because I'm a pop star, I sing songs, do movies, I like to feel sexy and confident on stage." Lesson: Avoid arseholes.

There's the persona and there's the real you. Don't date people who're only interested in your sexy and confident stage presence (at karaoke or whatever).

Vague quote: "I'd be so stoked with a writer or producer or actor who is low-key, but those kind of guys are terrified of me!" Lesson: Go for chill d00ds.

Don't you hate it when only real famous, arrogant types want to date you? Grr. Why can't we all find a nice low-key producer?

Vague quote: "Nobody would want to throw themselves into that situation where it was so heightened publicly, like, why would they?" Lesson: Know your limitations.

For Selena Gomez, her dating limitation is her obscene fame. No one wants to date her because of it. Why would anyone want to date someone so famous and beautiful? Beats us!

Vague quote: "I like to have fun, I like to hang out." Lesson: Don’t get tied down.

Hey, who doesn't like hanging out, Selena Gomez? We don't blame you for wanting to keep it casual. We're also busy hatching eggs on our phones these days, so you know, preaching to the choir!
