Good news, meme-makers, The Young Pope's Jude Law is well aware of the exquisite internet mockery surrounding his new HBO drama.

In fact, much like a benevolent pontiff might offer benediction for your sins, Law has blessed our creative exploits.

"Having spent the last week in New York and here doing lots of press, I’ve become very aware," Law told reporters at HBO's presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Los Angeles when asked for his take on the show's online popularity.

While he admits that earlier in the week, "I didn't even know what a meme was," Law has come to embrace the Twitter fervor that his new role has prompted. "I love them. They’re very funny, they’re very imaginative," he said.

He's not even worried that the viral possibilities of the new series might eclipse the content of the show itself.

"It will, I hope, just prompt interest and intrigue," Law offered, noting that in Europe, where the show has already aired its first season, The Young Pope struck a chord among younger viewers.

"I don’t know if meme trends are reflective of young people’s interest, but if so ... I’m very excited that they might also become our audience [here]," he said.

With a pope this young, how could they not?
